From theory to practice - for students and lecturers
If entrepreneurship is your topic, do not hesitate any longer and apply today for the Ulysses Student Contest! Together with your team you will work on real-life challenges of Hungarian, Austrian and Italian family firms and get a chance to enter an international contest with your solutions. As it is a challenge for students to study along the lines of traditional education methodology, you will be able to change your perspective, move from theory to practice and learn about the operation of family businesses. The price money of 3,000 euros awaits the winning team!
If you are a teacher at a Higher Education Institution, you can implement the collected case studies into your teaching material. Ulysses supports lecturers by providing a new education methodology resource, real-life knowledge and improving the digital competences of the students.
(International) team work makes the dream work
In this competition, students work in groups of four members to solve a case study we have prepared. You can put all your creativity into your ideas and submit solutions. After the first round, the nine best teams will compete in a second round.
Do you and your team mate already know each other through a seminar at university? Good! Because for the contest, students have the opportunity to register as a pair that has already been formed. Do you want to meet new people? Even better! We want to encourage you to be brave and form a team of students from other universities and countries. To do this, you can register on our website and are going to be introduced to your new teammates once the registration phase is completed. Pairs will be kept together.

Student groups work on the case studies

The best nine teams participate in this round and get a new case study

Presentation of solutions in front of a jury of experts & family firm members
Entrepreneurial mindset needed
With the Ulysses Contest you train skills like spotting opportunities, working with others, taking the initiative, or coping with uncertainty, ambiguity, and risk. Such competencies characterize a true entrepreneurial mindset. Many people understand entrepreneurship only as economic activity - but just as important are the soft skills which are encompassed. Which ones are included exactly (you'll be surprised how many there are!) is determined within the framework of the EU's so-called EntreComp.
Two comments about this:
1) You will agree that such skills are not only relevant for professional life. Instead, they are important for your overall personal development. An entrepreneurial mindset helps you to develop ideas and innovations and turn them into solutions and actions – and so does the contest!
2) Entrepreneurial competencies are not something you are born with. No one comes with a fully „appropriate” entrepreneurial mindset from the start. To level up your skills, the magic word is entrepreneurial education. This is exactly where our contest comes in. Learning is an active process that lasts throughout life. The more options you use and the earlier you start, the better!
